Morocco is hosting this Wednesday, in Marrakech, the 9th ministerial meeting of the World Coalition against Daesh.

An international coalition created in 2014 to fight the Islamic State group, which brings together more than 80 participants.

About fifty delegations are expected according to Morocco, including 15 African delegations.

This meeting, co-organized by Morocco and the United States, will put "

particular emphasis on the African continent

", according to the press release from the Moroccan Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Among the African guests are notably countries from West Africa, such as Burkina Faso, Niger and Benin, from Central Africa, such as the DRC, or from Southern Africa, such as Mozambique, invited as observers.

As host country of this first meeting on the continent, Morocco shows its willingness to play a leading role in the fight against terrorism.

The kingdom is putting forward its national strategy.

A few days ago, the anti-terrorist police announced the arrest, in coordination with the American FBI, of a man suspected of being part of the Islamic State group.

It is precisely on cooperation that Rabat wants to emphasize.

The kingdom is one of the countries at the head of the Africa Focus Group, a working group created a few months ago, within the framework of this coalition, to promote the exchange of information and the coordination of efforts in the fight against terrorism in Africa.

In Marrakech, Morocco affirms that concrete responses should be provided to deal with the rise of terrorism on the continent.

Moroccan Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita held a series of bilateral meetings yesterday Tuesday with several of his counterparts, including Spaniard José Manuel Albares.

The two countries have once again shown that

the crisis is behind them

and displayed their convergence of views on several issues, including that of Western Sahara.
