According to sources, the authorities will officially implement it in June after a comprehensive study of the epidemic situation.

However, the target of entry is still mainly business people and international students, and the restrictions on tourist entry are still maintained. In the future, according to the epidemic situation, it may be gradually relaxed in the direction of allowing limited tour groups to enter.

Affected by the spread of the new coronavirus Omicron strain, Japan will lower the daily limit of entry from 5,000 to 3,500 in 2021.

That figure was revised up to the current 10,000 in April 2022 as the outbreak eased.
