A human body floating in the Loire was seen Monday afternoon, around 5 p.m., near the Trois-Continents bridge which connects the island of Nantes to Rezé.

Alerted, the firefighters intervened with nautical means and a team of divers.

The body was brought to shore at Wilson Quay, near the gray Titan crane.

The victim is a man "aged 40 to 50 years old" in a situation of "rigor mortis", reports the departmental fire and rescue service (Sdis).

He had not yet been identified as of Monday evening.

An investigation has been opened to find out who he is and what could have happened.
