Janos Ader, who previously held the corresponding position, handed over the keys to the official residence of the country's president to Novak.

“This morning I received the keys to the Shandor Palace from Janos Ader.

Every Hungarian can count on me, and I count on every Hungarian.

Thank you for your service Mr President,” she wrote on Twitter.

In March, the Hungarian Parliament elected Katalin Nowak, Minister for Family Affairs, Youth and International Relations, as President of the country.

Her opponent was the 80-year-old candidate from the opposition coalition, economist Peter Rona.
