  Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi attended the meeting via video link in Beijing and delivered a speech.

Wang Yi pointed out that the Global Development Initiative is committed to consolidating political consensus on accelerating development, building a public platform for development cooperation, promoting the exchange and mutual learning of development experience, and enhancing the international synergy of coordinated development, which is the general trend and the aspiration of the people.

  Wang Yi said that in order to promote the initiative to deepen and implement the initiative, China proposes to reinvigorate and promote global cooperation in the implementation of the 2030 Agenda, create a favorable environment for accelerating global development, build an equal and balanced global development partnership, and give play to the core and guiding role of the United Nations system. .

He also announced the important pragmatic measures China will take to promote the implementation of the initiative, expressing his willingness to work with all parties to make new contributions to implementing the 2030 Agenda, deepening global development cooperation, and promoting the building of a community with a shared future for mankind.

Representatives of the member countries on the panel spoke positively of China's hosting of this high-level video conference, believing that in the context of the continuous spread of the epidemic, geopolitical conflicts and complex changes in the international situation, the conference will effectively promote the international community to refocus on development and accelerate the implementation of the 2030 Agenda.

In his concluding remarks, he said that this high-level video conference not only pointed out the direction for future cooperation, but also gave us more confidence in the construction and development of the group, marking another solid step for the Global Development Initiative on the UN platform.

The meeting achieved four outcomes: first, building new consensus, second, launching new projects, third, exploring new paths, and fourth, adding new impetus.

  At the end of the meeting, the chairman's summary was formed, which comprehensively sorted out the discussions at the meeting and the consensus of the members, and provided guidance for the future work of the "Friends Group".

According to the suggestions of the panellists, the chairman's summary will be submitted to Guterres to promote the active support and participation of the Secretary-General and various United Nations agencies in the implementation of global development initiatives, and to continuously achieve new progress.

  The Global Development Initiative was proposed by Chinese President Xi Jinping at the general debate of the 76th United Nations General Assembly in September 2021, and the initiative received positive responses from the international community once it was put forward.

In January 2022, the Group of Friends of the Global Development Initiative was officially established at the United Nations Headquarters in New York.
