A former employee in Lycksele municipality is suspected of gross fraud.
The person is suspected of having embezzled a significant amount from an account for which the municipality is responsible.
The incident was reported to the police already in March, just a few days after the municipality became aware of it.
- We have control routines and it was at these that it was discovered that things were not right.
The former employee must still have had access to the account where suspicious transactions have been made.
- We take this very seriously and await the work of the police and the Public Prosecutor's Office, says Eric Lundström, Head of Unit for Community Planning.
A preliminary investigation is currently underway.
