The district court in Frankfurt has sentenced Jürgen Richter to abuse of title.

According to the court, the former managing director of AWO Frankfurt had a doctorate in his ID cards, in contracts or in official documents without having acquired it.

Richter, against whom further proceedings and investigations are pending in connection with the AWO affair, replied at the hearing on Tuesday through his lawyer Bernhard Lorenz that he had acquired his doctorate at a foreign university.

However, he did not want to provide proof in court for fear of plagiarism hunters, to whom he would then have to publicly give information.

The court described the statements as not credible and imposed a penalty of 100 daily rates of 80 euros.

The judge reduced the sentence by saying that the judge had no criminal record.

However, the fact that he used the title over a long period of time made the punishment even worse.
