An inmate from Nanterre prison (Hauts-de-Seine) escaped this Sunday noon.

The 25-year-old was at the Georges-Pompidou European Hospital in Paris where he was undergoing a medical examination when he escaped.

He was handcuffed and accompanied by a prison escort, tells Europe 1. An investigation has been opened to find the prisoner.

In prison for theft and fraud

She was entrusted to the third judicial police district (DPJ).

The young man had been convicted of theft, fraud and breach of trust, the radio station said.

At the time of his escape, he was wearing a black sweater, gray sweatpants and black shoes.

The fugitive slipped away from the guards after going to the hospital toilets.

He exited the facility through a door leading to the hospital emergency parking lot.

The man had been transferred there from the prison as part of the regular follow-up of a pathology.
