A Franco-Afghan man began a hunger strike on Monday in front of the Loiret prefecture in Orléans.

He intends to help his brother, who fled Afghanistan from the Taliban before arriving in Turkey.

Arrested by the police in Istanbul, he should be sent back to Afghanistan on May 12, says

A letter to Emmanuel Macron

The hunger striker was a local civilian recruitment staff for the French army in Afghanistan.

He worked as an interpreter.

He said he had tried everything for his brother and had notably written letters to Emmanuel Macron, to Florence Parly, Minister of the Armed Forces, and to the prefect of Center-Val-de-Loire.

Hundreds of emails would also have been sent to the French Consulate in Turkey.

The man claims to be able to count on the prefecture and says he is determined.

“I was told that everything was going to be done to find a solution for my brother.

[…] I know the Taliban have no respect for humanity,” he explained.
