The crimes took place on June 27, 2012, during an operation to combat illegal gold panning in Dorlin (south-west Guyana), in the commune of Maripasoula, the largest commune in France.

Two of them, "Brabo" and "Manoelzinho", were absent during this trial, because France has no extradition agreement with Brazil.
