For several years, some producers located in Caderousse (Vaucluse) have been victims of theft on their farms.
If usually it is melons that are stolen, this year, a farmer noticed the absence of several trays containing strawberries, reports
Le Dauphiné Libéré
.
The theft dates back to the Easter weekend.
In total, between 60 and 70 kilos of strawberries were stolen, probably to be resold.
"These were guys who had to have a headlamp and who had to know how to pick up strawberries", noted to our colleagues the producer, who is delighted that the plants have not been uprooted.
A meeting with the town hall
A week after these thefts, the town hall organized a meeting to find solutions to put an end to this situation.
The police should reinforce their patrol in the areas concerned.
Thefts would always take place in farms located in a secluded corner, at night or on days with a strong mistral, so that the noise does not alert the neighbours.
