Obtaining a new identity card or passport within a reasonable time is almost a miracle.

Because of monster traffic jams when making appointments in Paris, it takes several months to obtain new identity papers.

Parisians must arm themselves with patience or else take some distance to obtain the precious sesame.

"I said that filling out the form on a computer was inaccessible to the visually impaired and that waiting times were not acceptable for a public service."

To avoid eight months of waiting in Paris, Martine, who accompanies her, has simply filed her file 75 kilometers away.

"In Verneuil-en-Halatte, in the Oise. They agreed to take me the next day and in eight days, I had my identity card and my passport."

The National Agency for Secured Titles promises a return to normal this summer.
