Foreign Minister Hayashi from the Government of Japan will attend the inauguration ceremony of South Korean President Yoon Seok-yeol.


Minister Hayashi is expected to hold individual talks with President Yun, and hopes to resolve the concerns between Japan and South Korea and improve the deteriorating relations between the two countries.

Foreign Minister Hayashi, who is visiting South Korea as a special envoy of Prime Minister Kishida, met with Park Jin, a candidate for foreign minister of the new administration of Yun, over dinner on the night of the 9th.



At the meeting, they shared the view that the current international situation, where rule-based order is threatened, has never waited for improved relations, saying that strategic cooperation between the two countries has never been so necessary.



They agreed that the deteriorated Japan-South Korea relations should not be left unattended anymore, and that the governments would discuss with each other with a sense of speed, including high-level dialogue, toward the early resolution of the pending issues.



Minister Hayashi will attend President Yun's inauguration ceremony in Seoul on the 10th to congratulate the new government.



In addition, it is expected that an individual meeting will be held with President Yun, and he will hand over a letter from Prime Minister Kishida and exchange opinions based on the contents agreed at the meeting with Mr. Park on the night of the 9th to resolve the concerns between Japan and South Korea. , I would like to use this as an opportunity to improve the relationship between the two countries.
