A 24-year-old man was indicted and imprisoned on Sunday in the investigation into the violent assault suffered by a 22-year-old jogger on Thursday May 5 in Revel (Haute-Garonne), confirms the Toulouse prosecutor's office.

The suspect was arrested by the gendarmes of the Villefranche-de-Lauragais research brigade on Friday evening, twenty-four hours after the incident, at his parents' home in Sorèze, in the Tarn.

He is suspected of being the cyclist whose victim crossed the road on a greenway around 7 p.m.

According to France Bleu Occitanie, he would have recognized the facts.

Intellectual disabilities

The jogger was strangled so hard she lost consciousness.

When she came to her senses, the man had pulled her aside into a thicket and was touching her.

It was the arrival of a walker that prompted him to flee.

The suspect, who allegedly suffers from intellectual disabilities, is indicted for attempted homicide and sexual assault.
