A source in the Ras Al Khaimah Police revealed to "Emirates Today" that the process of seizing the three drivers who made dangerous display movements and caused damage to public property in the north of the Emirate of Ras Al Khaimah, last Wednesday, was as a result of their friend's publication of the video on social media, where numbers were monitored. He added that as soon as the video spread and was viewed by the Commander-in-Chief of Ras Al Khaimah Police, Major General Ali Abdullah bin Alwan Al Nuaimi, he immediately ordered the formation of a specialized work team to deal with the drivers and arrest them, and after research and investigation, the drivers were seized and referred to the Public Prosecution to complete the legal procedures against them.

He pointed out that filming and publishing videos of vehicles “driving” on public and internal roads in residential areas encourages other drivers to practice the same negative behaviors, and as a source of fame through social networking sites, although they are dangerous practices, and may lead to exposure Drivers are at risk of overturning or burning their vehicle, or endangering road users, if their vehicle deviates from its lane.

He added that the relevant government departments in Ras Al Khaimah will determine the value of the damages on the public road, as drivers will bear the costs of maintenance.

He stated that all members of the public, in the event of monitoring any vehicles that “drift” on public roads, should photograph the incident to prove it, and open a report through the Ras Al Khaimah Police General Command website, or by visiting the nearest police station, or calling the operations room and reporting it. With the video clips not being published on social networking sites, or via WhatsApp groups, as it is a crime punishable by law.

He explained that participating in gatherings, displaying and bragging about driving a vehicle by "driving", or performing dangerous movements, or gathering and participating in watching, or even participating in publishing videos containing these behaviors and races on social networking sites, exposes the perpetrators to legal accountability.
