Good evening,

Be honest: how many scoops of ice cream did you eat this sunny weekend?

The only correct answer must be: too few!

You can find out briefly and concisely what you missed when you were standing in line at the ice cream parlor in the Hauptwache: Nancy Faeser is considered a candidate for the office of Prime Minister of Hesse, the "Boris Becker International Tennis Academy" stands by her namesake and Celebrations continue on Friedberger Platz in Frankfurt - even if the city tries to lure people to the Hauptwache with bratwurst and aperol.

Faeser re-elected

: The hard news first:

Nancy Faeser was confirmed in her position as party leader in Hesse at the SPD party conference on Saturday.

With 94.3 percent of the votes, she was well above the 88.8 percent she achieved when she succeeded Thorsten Schäfer-Gümbel at the end of 2019.

That wasn't really surprising.

After all, there was no opposing candidate.

The second piece of news that is attracting more attention isn't, strictly speaking, yet.

Because there is no official confirmation yet.

Just a clear statement of intent.

And that envisages an application by Faeser for the office of Prime Minister of Hesse.

"My heart is in Hesse"

assured the fifty-one-year-old Minister of the Interior at the party conference in Marburg.

Faeser could therefore fight with the designated Prime Minister Boris Rhein (CDU) and Deputy Prime Minister Tarek Al-Wazir (The Greens) in the state elections in autumn next year for a place in the State Chancellery.

Our correspondent for state politics, Ewald Hetrodt, explains why the Hessian party is still taking its time before the official nomination.

Investor stands by Becker

: Advertising with a world star can work well.

But it doesn't have to.

Khaled Ezzedine learned that lesson the hard way.

Together with a partner, the entrepreneur is setting up a sports boarding school in Hochheim, which is to be called the Boris Becker Tennis Academy.

Or: will wear!

Because despite his sentence to two and a half years in prison in Great Britain, Becker will remain the namesake of the sports boarding school.

The entrepreneur reads that this also has something to do with loyalty.

According to Ezzedine, the "Boris Becker International Tennis Academy" is to become the largest tennis school in Germany.

20 tennis courts in three halls are planned, as well as many outdoor courts.

170 children and young people are to be trained and taught in the boarding school.

Completion is not expected until autumn 2024 at the earliest.

Becker's announcement that he would be approachable even on the school's tennis courts could even remain true.

Because Becker, who is accused of not having disclosed assets of more than one million euros in his insolvency proceedings, could under certain circumstances be released from prison after half the prison term.
