Lee Jae-myung, senior adviser to the Democratic Party, who has not been active since the March presidential election, held a press conference at the Gyeyangsan outdoor performance hall in Incheon on the morning of the 8th.

He declared his candidacy for the National Assembly by-election in Incheon, which became vacant due to former Democratic Party leader Song Young-gil's running for mayor of Seoul.

Lee said he could not ignore the difficulties the party was facing and the precarious local election situation.

Earlier, on the 6th, the Democratic Party of Korea nominated Lee Standing Advisor as the general election chairman of the local election while strategically nominating it.

Ahn Cheol-soo, chairman of the transition committee, held a press conference at the National Assembly this afternoon to officially declare his candidacy for the Bundangap by-election in Seongnam, Gyeonggi Province.

This place became vacant when former lawmaker Kim Eun-hye ran for the Gyeonggi governor election, and it is the constituency to which Daejang-dong, which was the biggest issue in the last presidential election, belongs.

[Ahn Cheol-soo/Chairman of the transition for the presidency: If I am elected as a member of the National Assembly here, I will dig into the (Daejang-dong) issue properly so that there is no one who is unjust.]

Chairman Ahn is expected to hold a primary with former lawmaker Park Min-sik, who has expressed his intention to run for the same constituency.

With the announcement of two presidential candidates, Jae-myung Lee and Cheol-soo Ahn, running for president, this local election and the re-election of the National Assembly by-election took on the character of the second round of the presidential election.
