Dubai Roads: Implementation of 37 km of special routes for buses and taxis within 5 years

The Roads and Transport Authority has approved a plan to implement a 37-km-long route for buses and taxis, during the period from 2023 to 2027. The routes are distributed over eight vital streets, namely Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Street, Sheikh Sabah Al Ahmad Al Jaber Al Sabah, 2nd of December, Amman, and Al Satwa. , Al Nahda, Omar bin Al Khattab and Naif, bringing the total length of private bus routes to 48.6 km.

He added: The expansion of private bus lanes contributes to an increase in the average bus speed and a decrease in the journey time in peak hours by more than 40%, as it is expected that the journey time on the 2nd of December Street will decrease by 44%, and on Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and Amman streets, by 39%. Omar Bin Al Khattab Street by 28%, Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Street by 27%, Al Nahda Street by 25%, and Al Satwa Street by 18%, noting that the expansion of the lanes also contributes to an increase in the number of bus passengers in 2030, by 30%. He explained that the adoption of the plan to implement the lanes for public transport buses and taxis is a culmination of the great success achieved by the previous three phases, as it contributed to reducing the journey time for bus lines to approximately 5 minutes per bus, with an improvement in journey time estimated at 24%. Parts of Naif Street with a length of one kilometer, and parts of Al Ittihad Street with a length of 500 meters, Al Mina Street with a length of 1,700 meters (from Kuwait Street to Falcon Intersection), Sheikh Sabah Al Ahmad Al Jaber Al Sabah Street (from Satwa Roundabout to Sheikh Rashid Street, 1800 meters long), and The Gulf is 1,700 meters long (from Al Khor Street to Al Musalla Street), Khalid Bin Al Waleed Street (from the intersection with Al Mina Street to Street No. 16 with a length of 100 meters), and Al Ghubaiba Street (from the intersection with Al Mina Street to Street No. 12 with a length of 500 meters).
