MilDef is a Swedish company headquartered in Helsingborg.

The company sells digital equipment that will withstand tough conditions, such as shocks, extreme heat and cold.

A clear majority of their customers are military customers.

A "hidden currency"

The company's CEO believes that in a NATO membership there is a kind of "hidden currency" that is about security policy guarantees, which you can enjoy if you join.

"Sweden, which alone and without alliances, has quite a bit of the security policy currency, but as a member of NATO you get quite a lot and that affects companies," he says.

Which ones could you sell to that you do not sell to today?

- I do not think it is about new countries, but about new business opportunities and deeper collaborations and that Sweden is seen as an even stronger supplier of technology.

We will have an additional edge when it comes to getting out into the world.

Positive in the long run

Even at BAE Hägglunds in Örnsköldsvik, which manufactures combat vehicles and tracked vehicles, it is believed that a NATO membership would be good for business.

At least in the long run.

- In the short term, I do not think there will be any major impact, but in the long term we probably have an advantage when the equipment would be classified as NATO equipment, says CEO Tommy Gustafsson-Rask, and continues:

- In NATO, there are certain standards for equipment that allow you to cooperate and work together.

We already work according to many of these standards today, but if you are a full-fledged NATO member, you get access to a little more.

He says that several countries invested in their defenses since 2014 in Crimea were annexed by Russia, which has benefited the company in recent years.

Financially, is war good for a company like Hägglunds?

- The secondary effect is that countries want to protect themselves and invest in defense equipment.

So yes.
