On May 6, Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Zhao Lijian presided over a regular press conference.

A reporter asked a question. Recently, Japan has been very active in the international arena, with a number of dignitaries visiting Asia, Europe and the United States intensively.

On the 5th, Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida said during his visit to the United Kingdom that he was strongly concerned about unilateral changes to the status quo in the East China Sea and the South China Sea, rapid but opaque military construction activities, and economic coercion.

What is China's comment?

Zhao Lijian pointed out that cooperation between countries should be conducive to promoting regional peace, stability and prosperity, and should not target or harm the interests of third parties.

The Japanese side frequently uses some diplomatic activities to "entrain private goods", talk about China, exaggerate regional tensions, and hype the so-called "China threat". By doing so, the Japanese side is looking for an excuse for its own military expansion and damage to regional countries' mutual trust and cooperation. , which is not conducive to regional peace and stability and is destined to be unpopular.

The Chinese side firmly opposes the relevant words and deeds of the Japanese side.

Zhao Lijian emphasized that Taiwan is an inalienable part of China's territory, and the Taiwan issue is entirely China's internal affairs, which cannot be compared with the situation in Ukraine.

Japan bears historical guilt towards the Chinese people on the Taiwan issue, and should be more cautious in its words and deeds, and has absolutely no right to make irresponsible remarks.

On maritime-related issues, China firmly safeguards territorial sovereignty and maritime rights and interests, and is willing to properly handle differences through negotiation and consultation with relevant countries to maintain regional peace and tranquility.

Zhao Lijian pointed out that if Japan really wants peace and stability in East Asia, it should immediately stop provoking confrontation between major powers and do more things that are conducive to enhancing mutual trust among regional countries and promoting regional peace and stability.
