Afghanistan's top leadership and Taliban leaders have issued a decree requiring all women to wear full-length jars in public places.

"They should wear chador because it is a tradition and a sign of respect," the Taliban's top leader, Hibatullah Akhundzada, told AFP.

Chador is a full-coverage burka that goes from the head down to the feet.

At the end of March, the Taliban also broke the promise of schooling for all by sending all the teenage girls home again.
