According to the embassy, the incident happened at a Russian journalist station in Berlin.
That afternoon, the windows of the station were smashed by unidentified assailants with glass bottles.
During subsequent inspections, staff found a package in the building containing items such as containers filled with liquid and gas cylinders with wires.
The embassy said that after the local police and EOD personnel arrived at the scene, they confirmed that the item was a homemade explosive device, and the explosive lead was removed at the scene.
The source added that no one was injured in the incident.
