• Espionage Pere Aragonès forces Pedro Sánchez to accept an "urgent" meeting

  • Pegasus Pere Aragonès assures that he was spied on after 2019 and demands explanations from Pedro Sánchez

"They spy on us because they are afraid of democracy, but they didn't catch a single ballot box."

The allusion to the logistics of the 1-O referendum was one of the few references that

Oriol Junqueras

made this morning, at an

Esquerra Republicana

act on municipal politics in Reus (Tarragona), about the

Pegasus case

.

One day after the President of the Government,

Pedro Sánchez

, and the President of the Generalitat,

Pere Aragonès

, coincided in an act in Barcelona and called for an urgent meeting to address this matter, as the head of the Government, Junqueras was more ironic than angry when talking about espionage with the Israeli program to various pro-independence leaders: "If they want to know something, let them come and ask us, since the advantage of doing noble things is that we can always explain them and everyone".

The ERC president is not surprised by the information from the so-called

Catalangate

: "They spy on us a lot, not only now, but always, and we all know and are aware of it."

Junqueras has framed the wiretapping within the global persecution that, he says, the secessionist movement suffers: "Not only do they spy on us, but they beat up people who go to vote, put us in jail or keep us in exile, they prosecute us, they want to keep our house and that of our children, they disqualify us and prohibit us from teaching at the university".

"All this persecution we can live with pride because we do what we have to do", he has boasted.

The republican leader considers that those who ordered the secret follow-up had a main motive: "They know that we can win and build a republic at the service of the people, a

republic

better than their

monarchy

."

The party's general secretary, Marta Rovira

, also took part in the act, by videoconference,

who picked up the gauntlet of Junqueras's comment on the referendum organized by the Generalitat in October 2017: "Not only did they not take a single ballot box, but that only we know why they didn't do it, and that makes us very strong.
