President Emmanuel Macron was sworn in as president on Saturday May 7 for a second five-year term.
Many challenges await him, from reducing the social divide to the repercussions of the war in Ukraine.

In front of 450 guests, under the golds of the Elysée village hall, shortly after 11 a.m., the President of the Constitutional Council, Laurent Fabius, announced the official results of the presidential election: 58.55% of the votes gathered in the second round for Emmanuel Macron, on April 24, against the far-right candidate, Marine Le Pen.
Emmanuel Macron then signed the investiture report, paving the way for his new five-year term.
After this confirmation of his victory, he called in a brief speech to "
act tirelessly
" to "
be a more independent nation
" and to "build our French and European responses to the challenges of our century".
Presiding with “
a new method
”
For this, the Head of State displayed, in his ten-minute speech, his ambition to preside with "
a new method
" by "
planning, reforming, associating
" the French.
He swore to bequeath a more livable planet and “
a stronger France
”.
Among those present, Prime Minister Jean Castex, his predecessors Edouard Philippe, Jean-Pierre Raffarin and Manuel Valls, ministers, many elected officials, mainly from the majority like François Bayrou, heads of constituted bodies, academies, religions .
Former presidents Nicolas Sarkozy and François Hollande were also welcomed into the Élysée village hall to the sound of the first movement of Handel's Oboe Concerto.
Also present, the family of Emmanuel Macron, including his wife Brigitte and his daughters, and friends of the couple.
