China News Service, May 7 (Xinhua) According to a comprehensive US media report, on May 6, local time, US District Judge James Donato (James Donato) rejected the former US President Trump's response to the social media company Twitter (Twitter). The lawsuit, which Trump had accused Twitter of suspending his account, violated his right to free speech guaranteed by the U.S. Constitution's First Amendment.

U.S. District Judge James Donato said in a written ruling that Twitter is a private company and that the U.S. Constitution's free speech provisions apply only to the government, the report said.

The judge found no evidence that Twitter acted on behalf of government officials, as the plaintiffs claimed.

Trump has previously said Twitter was "coerced" by U.S. lawmakers to stop his account with tens of millions of followers.

On January 6, 2021, while the U.S. Congress was counting electoral votes for the presidential election, some Trump supporters violently stormed Congress, killing five people and injuring many others.

Trump's Twitter account was also suspended before Twitter permanently deactivated Trump's account, arguing that Trump's remarks risked "further incitement to violence."

In July of the same year, Trump filed a class-action lawsuit against Twitter, Facebook and Google over account bans.
