A couple from Chelles (Seine-et-Marne) is suspected of having embezzled 100,000 euros from the aid fund for companies in difficulty by the health crisis.

The two suspects reportedly told the solidarity device that their events company had posted greater losses than they actually were.

They were taken into custody and presented to a judge on Thursday.

The investigators estimated that the suspects had been helped in their efforts by a crook to whom they would have paid a commission on the sums unduly collected.

The public finance department lodged a complaint.

Questioned by the Chelles police, the suspect admitted the facts and detailed the amounts affected via a dozen Ile-de-France companies.

The money thus diverted was deposited in online bank accounts.

It was notably used to buy a luxury car and to gamble in the casino.
