A 25-year-old young man was given an eight-month suspended prison sentence by the court in Quimper (Finistère) on Thursday.

He was found guilty of manslaughter.

Driving too fast, he had collided with a cart whose driver had been seriously injured in the shock.

Hospitalized, he died after 15 days.

The precise elements that led to his death, however, could not be determined.

Compensation and reimbursement of expenses

The court followed the prosecutor's submissions.

These had been stated during the initial hearing on 7 April.

The case was then taken under advisement.

The convicted person will have to compensate the victim's family for 11,000 euros and pay them 800 euros to cover their legal costs.
