In recent months, shootings and riots in Skiftinge and Årby, nearby districts in northern Eskilstuna, have been reported on several occasions.

On Friday, the police launched an operation in Skiftinge with the aim of searching for weapons.

The police state that previous similar efforts have yielded results, they have then found objects that can be used as weapons in strategic places.

Police officers equipped with bulletproof vests were seen searching for weapons in garbage rooms, around storerooms and forest areas in residential areas in Skiftinge.

Eskilstuna's municipal police Elin Johansson is speechless about today's increased police presence in Skiftinge.

- We do not comment on an ongoing effort, she says.
