The trial of the November 13 attacks, open for almost eight months, was again suspended on Friday for a week due to a new case of Covid-19 contamination of one of the accused.

“We will not be able to hold this hearing today, nor next week”, announced the president of the special assize court of Paris, Jean-Louis Périès, Friday at the hearing, which will resume “normally on 17 May at 12:30 p.m.

The trial of the November 13 attacks had already been interrupted due to Covid-19.

He had resumed on Tuesday March 1 before the special Assize Court of Paris.

The debates were interrupted on February 15, after the coronavirus contaminations of two defendants, the Belgian-Moroccan Mohammed Amri and the Algerian Adel Haddadi.

Then again on February 22 for a week, the Tunisian Sofien Ayari and the Belgian-Moroccan Mohamed Bakkali having also been infected.

The defendants are "able to resume the hearing", had then indicated at the resumption the president of the court, Jean-Louis Périès, citing the conclusions of medical expertise.

Only one defendant had not taken his place in the box: the Swede Osama Krayem, who had refused to appear since November.

He had notably written that he would no longer speak to the court, believing that this trial was "an illusion".
