Judokan, who is 42 years old, was born in Colombia and came to Sweden when he was a child.

He lived in other cities in the country and started practicing judo 15 years ago when he moved to Västerås.

He is nominated for the Parasport Gala Award for his commitment, enthusiasm and love for helping everyone who practices judo with him.

But sport has also made his life better. 

- It's good to move.

You feel much better and eat less medicine, says Mike Malmer.  

Mike Malmer has won several medals, including silver when he represented Sweden in the Special Olympics 2019 in Abu Dhabi.

He is also one of the ambassadors within Special Olympics Sweden.

- Mike does a lot and he is a good ambassador and he has done many things that are appreciated by others, says Kjell Ingemansson, leader of Västerås judo club.
