Rasmus Paludan has recently applied for permission to manifest in a large number of places in Sweden.

During the Easter weekend, riots broke out in several places as a result of his planned burning of the Koran.

Even before the Valborg weekend, Paludan had applied for a permit in several places, but was refused, among other things, for a planned demonstration in Borås on 29 April.

"Not enough reasons"

The police rejected his application with reference to, among other things, a threat and risk assessment that was made.

According to the administrative court, however, the police's reasons for rejecting Paludan's application were not sufficient.

"The circumstances that the Police Authority has stated for its decision are admittedly serious, but according to the administrative court do not constitute such exceptional circumstances that mean that there were reasons to completely refuse the requested permit on this basis," the court wrote in a press release.

The right to refuse in Gothenburg

However, in the case of two previous applications, in Hjällbo center and on Angereds torg on 26 February, the court rules in favor of the police.

- In those cases, the assessment has been made that it is not possible according to the order, but has offered Rasmus other alternatives and wanted to have a discussion, which he did not want.

Because he was not willing to discuss, the police have rejected his application, says councilor Magnus Nylander.

The police's refusal in Borås was justified by the fact that the two places that Paludan applied for were inappropriate, which the administrative court does not question.

- We have made the assessment that the police in the case concerning the application in Borås have made the wrong assessment.

They believe that, given the state of order and security, there is not a single place for Rasmus to hold his meeting.

We do not agree with that.

What happens now - will the judges be guiding?

- It is up to the police how much importance they place on these sentences in the future.
