Anders Holmlund, police in Arjeplog, was the one who went to the place where the bear was shot on Friday afternoon.

He interrogated the deeply shocked man.

This is what he tells about in the interrogation:

- When the hunter walked forward in the forest, it roared on his left side and out comes a bear rushing towards him.

He has the rifle in his arms and shoots a shot from the hip, says police inspector Anders Holmlund to SVT Norrbotten.

Fast progress

The hunter then backs up a few steps to reload.

The next shot kills the bear.

- The bear falls down where the hunter stood first, so it has been an extremely fast process, says Anders Holmlund.

The bear is estimated to have been 12 to 15 meters from the man when he fired the first shot.

The hunter received no physical injuries but was severely shocked.

- He was in huge shock.

He was pale and in severe shock, says Anders Holmlund.

Nightmare event

You're a hunter yourself.

What do you think about this event?

- It's a nightmare event for a hunter.

When I talked to him, all the hair I had on my body stood up, says Anders Holmlund.

To be autopsied

At present, there is no suspicion of crime.

The bear's body will now be autopsied to see if the bullet holes agree with the hunter's story.
