It's the day after eid and three girlfriends have gathered in a living room to celebrate with an Ethiopian coffee ceremony.

Until recently, their residential area was one among many others.

Lawns and playgrounds.

Get names on the board in the stairwell, many nationalities.

It has now ended up at the center of the country's most notorious crime at the moment.

"It was great love"

In one of the houses here in Bolagshagen in Norberg lived the man who is in custody for attempted murder and rape after he is suspected of pushing a woman into a mining hole in the forest.

On the other side of the yard, in the room next to the living room where the friends gathered, lived the victim.

She is described by the neighbors as the detainee's girlfriend.

- They were often together and went for walks together.

It was a lot of love, says a woman who knows them both.

Not seen in two weeks

Now the woman's room has been emptied of belongings.

On the bed is an unopened envelope with her name.

The sheets are embedded, the blanket rolled up at the foot end.

- Someone came here a few days ago and emptied everything, says the woman's roommate.

For nine months they lived together in the two-room apartment in Bolagshagen.

Even so, they knew very little about each other.

- She spoke no Swedish and no English.

We just said hello, no more.

I would have liked to visit her in the hospital but I do not know where she is.

The last time they were seen was two weeks ago, the day before the news of the act at the mine hole.

On Saturday, the police came to search her room, the roommate says.

Found severely damaged in mining holes

The woman, who is in her 20s, was seriously injured and severely chilled when the rescue service finally managed to winch her out of the 25-meter-deep hole the day before last Friday.

According to information to SVT, the suspected perpetrator is said to have wanted to marry his girlfriend, but was denied.

He is then suspected of having raped and pushed her into the hole.

The man is also suspected of returning to the scene to throw stones at the woman's body.

Before the act, he must have confessed to the murder of his ex-wife.

Afraid to go out

Neighbors describe how the incident affected the entire residential area.

Everyone is talking about the woman in the hole.

- It's awful.

We are many women in the area who are afraid to go out now.

I can not sleep, says a woman.

- If she had died, no one would have found her.

Then she would have just been gone, says the roommate.
