A 37-year-old man appeared before the Savoy Assize Court on Thursday for violence that led to the death of his partner in July 2018 in Chambéry.

The man was under the influence of alcohol and narcotics at the time of the incident, which took place near the station.

According to witnesses cited by

, the accused had thrown a bag at the woman before giving her a violent punch.

The alcoholic victim and suspect

The couple was sentenced in April 2018 for mutual violence.

On the day of the assault, the police, alerted by witnesses, tried to take care of the victim.

Also alcoholic, she had refused before finally being transported to the emergency room of Chambéry.

Placed in intensive care due to a head trauma with irreversible lesions, the young woman died the next day at the University Hospital of Grenoble (Isère).

Indicted and then placed in pre-trial detention, her companion had admitted having caused her fall by jostling her but denied having thrown a bag.
