- During the last six months, we have received lots of inquiries.

Only this week we get a visit from three wind power companies who want to come and discuss an establishment, says Patrik Nilsson (S) who is a municipal councilor in Robertsfors.

The three offshore wind farms are included in the eleven planned areas that are in the wind power plan that Robertsfors municipality has developed.

But no concrete decision on establishment has yet been made.

Great interest

- But we notice that the interest in the sea-based works is great.

There is space in the sea and then we are talking about several hundred wind turbines in each wind farm area, says Patrik Nilsson.

It is the industrial investments in northern Sweden and the lack of electricity to the south that mean that there is a great need to strengthen Sweden's energy supply, and Robertsfors municipality wants to be involved and contribute.

Political agreement locally

- I have been involved as a municipal councilor for twelve years now and we have always been in agreement across party boundaries - the council's focus has been that we should be involved in the green transition.

This includes that we must find environmentally friendly energy such as wind power, says Patrik Nilsson.

In 2021, 32 of 42 land-based wind power projects were stopped by the municipal veto.

The municipal council believes that this has led to the compensation to the municipalities now being investigated.

- We must create incentives that enable more wind power or other types of energy to be built where the municipalities contribute to us being able to switch, because we must do that.

Otherwise, we will stop the industrialization that is now actually taking place in the north, says Patrik Nilsson (S).
