Following Foreign Minister Ann Linde's visit to Washington DC, it is now clear that there is American support for a possible Swedish NATO application.

According to SVT's US correspondent Stefan Åsberg, the actual meeting with, among others, the US Secretary of State Antony Blinken has been relatively quiet in the US reporting.

On the other hand, in recent weeks there has been great interest in the fact that Sweden and Finland are facing a possible application to the Defense Alliance.

- The fact that Sweden has delivered weapons to Ukraine has aroused some interest here in the US, says Stefan Åsberg in Morgonstudion.

"One hundred percent support"

- Another important part of this meeting was that they met some of the heaviest senators, both Republicans and Democrats, who have positions in both the defense and foreign affairs committees.

And the message from them is very clear: Both the senators and politicians in Congress will vote through from the American side if Sweden seeks a NATO membership.

There are no problems from the American side, where you have one hundred percent support, he says.
