He had until May 13, the official end date of his first term, to organize it.

Emmanuel Macron's investiture ceremony will take place this Saturday, May 7, at 11 a.m. at the Élysée Palace.

Imitating his re-elected predecessors, the ceremony should be placed under the sign of sobriety.

A ceremony which will only take place on Saturday, but which is already intended to be sober.

Unlike his inauguration on May 14, 2017, Emmanuel Macron will not go up the avenue des Champs Élysées.

He will not go to the Hôtel de Ville in Paris either, contenting himself with the minimum protocol.

Because Emmanuel Macron wants to draw inspiration from the last two re-elected presidents, François Mitterrand in 1988 and Jacques Chirac in 2002. Thus, in the village hall of the Elysée, the ceremony will begin with the proclamation of the official results of the election by the President of the Constitutional Council, Laurent Fabius.

A chosen investiture date

Emmanuel Macron will be recognized as Grand Master of the Legion of Honor in front of the large gold collar of the order represented on a cushion.

Then he will deliver his inaugural speech at noon.

The re-elected president will come out into the gardens of the Élysée to review the troops.

Two kilometers further, at the Hôtel des Invalides, 21 cannon shots will be fired.

Tradition inherited from the Old Regime.

Emmanuel Macron's second term will therefore begin on May 7, 2022. A date that was not chosen at random.

The president wanted this ceremony to take place before May 9, the day of the victory of the Second World War in Russia, and which makes the tenant of the Elysée fear a major Russian offensive in Ukraine.
