Politicians in the United States have taken a stand for and against during the day, while US President Joe Biden warns that if this law can be dismantled, it could also threaten other laws and fundamental rights.

Vice President Kamala Harris said on Tuesday that the proposal is an attack on women.

- If the court tears up Roe against Wade, then it is a direct attack on freedom, she said, in a speech that was planned before, but which came to change character after the document came to light.

New team in Oklahoma

In Oklahoma, Gov. Kevin Sitt on Tuesday sang an abortion law, modeled on the controversial Texas law enacted in 2021. The law bans abortion after a fetal heartbeat is noted - about six weeks after conception.

The law is one of the most restrictive laws in the United States.

"I am so proud of this law, I want Oklahoma to be the most 'pro-life' state in the country, because I represent all four million Oklahoma residents who overwhelmingly want to protect the unborn," the governor wrote in a Tweet, after signing.

Hundreds gathered

On Monday, hundreds gathered outside the US Supreme Court in Washington to demonstrate against the possible change in the law.

It was also demonstrated in New York on Tuesday.

Nearly two-thirds of Americans will support candidates who support the right to abortion in the midterm elections in November, according to a survey commissioned by Reuters / Ipsos.
