In the clip: Hear prosecutor Henrik Olin explain why the crime is difficult to prove

The brothers are charged with a so-called travel crime according to the law on terrorist crimes.

This will be the first time a court has tried the law's current wording on this, which was introduced in 2020. The two brothers are in their 40s.

They were arrested in February at Landvetter Airport.

Chatted about fighting for IS

The main evidence is an extensive chat material where the men are said to have expressed that they want to join IS.

- They do not just want to join.

They are clear that they not only want to do administrative work but that they also want to fight for IS, says chamber prosecutor Henrik Olin.

The evidence consists of several cleaned telephones that the men replaced and MP3 players which, according to the prosecutor, contain lectures with a clearly violent Islamist character.

Säpo raided Landvetter

According to the prosecutor, the men were on their way to Iran, Syria or Libya.

- Before the attack, there had been an intelligence operation for some time.

We were aware of these two men when they went to Landvetter, says Olin.

- They have a history of interest from the Security Police, but are not part of any permanent group here in Sweden, he adds.

Wanted to return to my home country

Both men deny any wrongdoing.

- He does not think he has anything to do with this, says lawyer Lennart Johansson, who defends the older of the brothers.

- He would go to his former homeland, where he has relatives, Johansson adds.
