The Palestinian Prisoners Club said that the two prisoners, Khalil Awawda and Raed Rayan, are continuing their open hunger strike in the occupation prisons in protest against their administrative detention.

According to a statement issued by it, the Prisoners Club said that the 40-year-old detainee, Khalil Awawda, has been on strike for 63 days, and is facing a serious health condition, as he was transferred from Ramleh Prison to the Israeli Assaf Harofeh Hospital.

The Prisoner's Club said that the occupation authorities refuse to respond to his demand to end his administrative detention, noting that until today there are no signs of serious solutions to his case.

Awawda was arrested in December 2021, and an administrative detention order was issued against him for a period of 6 months, and he had previously been arrested 5 times.

In a related context, detainee Raed Rayan, 27, continues his open hunger strike for the 28th consecutive day in Ofer Prison, rejecting his administrative detention, as he also suffers from a continuous deterioration in his health.

Administrative detention is a military decision to imprison without trial for a period of up to 6 months, subject to extension.

The number of Palestinian detainees in Israel is about 4450, including about 530 administrative detainees, according to organizations specialized in prisoners' affairs.
