Good accounts make good friends.

And for Philip Tsotsos, the account is not there.

This Canadian is asking his (former) friends for his share of the million dollars the group won in a lottery, reports CBC News.

They had bought this Lotto Max winning ticket together in Ontario in the summer of 2021. Philip Tsotsos assures that he had participated in this purchase, which the 16 others deny.

This pizza delivery man therefore decided to sue them to get his share of the cake, around 70,000 dollars (66,000 euros) taking into account interest.

In Windsor, Ont., man he says was wrongfully cut out of his work group's lottery pool that netted them $1 million last summer, and now the matter may be headed to civil court.

The winning group's lawyer says they'll be fighting the claim.

He assures that he intended to pay later

"These people are like my family," he said in an interview with CBC News, still wondering why his friends didn't tell him they had won so much money.

He wants to be recognized as the 17th winner of the jackpot but the group's lawyer does not budge: he did not pay the ticket so his clients owe him nothing.

Philip Tsotsos says for his part that he had gotten used to paying later, with a credit system in place for at least six years.

He assures that he has always settled his slates and hopes to be able to receive his share of the jackpot to erase his last debt…
