The Elysée denies having approached the deputy for Matignon

“I am elected from a rural constituency, when I see the small pensions of farmers, I cannot defend such a text”, she told our colleagues.

Valérie Rabault will also represent herself in the 1st constituency of Tarn-et-Garonne during the legislative elections according to BFMTV.

The choice of a woman at the head of the government would be a welcome event when only Edith Cresson obtained this post between 1991 and 1992. The Elysée however denied having approached the socialist deputy.

"The president has not offered the post of prime minister to anyone," Emmanuel Macron's entourage told AFP.

The suspense remains as many names circulate.

The only indication: the president declared on April 27 that he would appoint “someone who is attached to the social question, the environmental question and the productive question”.
