A motorist was checked in a state of intoxication this Sunday in the Vaucluse.

The man, in his thirties, had been seen by another driver zigzagging on the road as he tried to reach his home in Monteux from Avignon.

There, he had just celebrated his grandfather's birthday, says Le Dauphiné Libéré.

One year in prison

Alerted, the police intercepted the motorist.

He had stopped on the side of the road to satisfy a natural need.

The man admitted to the police that he had been drinking.

He also revealed that he no longer had a driver's license after having already committed several offences.

The respondent, in a state of recidivism, had 2.65 grams of alcohol per liter of blood.

Judged in immediate appearance on Monday by the Avignon Criminal Court, he was sentenced to one year in prison.

A drunk and uninsured driver was driving at 140 km/h instead of 80
