• The Europazon project was born during the confinement, when local entrepreneurs imagined an e-commerce site for French or European products.

  • The main objective is to sell products that have not been manufactured on the other side of the world to limit transport.

  • At the same time, the company is launching an appeal “to all French or European manufacturers who want to address consumers directly via this common platform”.

Imagine a "marketplace" with thousands of stands of local products, for a more ethical consumption.

A kind of Amazon of made in France, or made in Europe.

This is the Europazon project, which Médoc entrepreneurs, based in Soulac-sur-Mer on the Gironde coast, are preparing to launch by the end of June.

“This project was born during confinement, when we saw that the big Chinese and American online sales platforms were doing well, explains Xavier Mahieu, the entrepreneur who launched the idea.

We said to ourselves that it was still crazy that we weren't able to offer a French platform..."

“We are not crazy”

But not to do the same thing as these online sales behemoths.

“As on Amazon, you will find all types of products on Europazon, but only made in France or Europe, and we will also sell refurbished items for everything that is not made in Europe, such as TVs.

The main objective being not to bring in products made on the other side of the world, and to favor short circuits as much as possible.

“The idea is to offer a more eco-responsible and supportive way of selling, which also defends another societal vision.

Xavier Mahieu acknowledges that the project "may seem a bit crazy", but denies being a crank.

“It is not because we are proposing a commercial plan other than the one developed over the past twenty or thirty years that we are utopians.

First of all, our business model initially covers 1% of Amazon's volume, we're not crazy, and we're not saying that we're going to put them on one knee earth.

“More and more people are looking to consume better”

The company is initially targeting the French market, before expanding to Europe by 2023. why not more?

We realize that there is a real enthusiasm around our project, whether professionals or customers, because there are quite simply more and more people who are looking to consume better, to offer them a site that allows it.

CEO of Brazéco, a Gironde company that transforms sawdust into firewood, Xavier Mahieu is no novice, and knows the world of online sales well.

He brought together a dozen partners to constitute a capital of 100,000 euros, and above all established strategic partnerships.

“Very clearly, we could never have embarked on the development of a marketplace tool, which is very complex, which is why we entered into a partnership with Octopia, a subsidiary of C-Discount.

For logistics, we rely on six to seven depots to start with.

This should allow Europazon to have “all the sales force of a marketplace like Amazon.

" Or almost.

"We won't deliver on Sundays, of course, but we ensure delivery within 48 hours, and competitive prices..."

“We receive offers from new producers every day”

For its launch, Europazon ensures that it will have an offer of one million products.

“And we receive offers from new producers every day.

At the same time, the company is launching an appeal “to all manufacturers, craftsmen, farmers or French or European project leaders who want to address consumers directly via this common platform.

»

Finally, the capital will open up "up to 90%" to members, assures Xavier Mahieu, "so that all those who wish to invest in the capital of Europazon can do so".

“We want it to be a solidarity tool that does not belong to a single person or to an investment fund.

While remaining based in Soulac-sur-Mer, at the very end of the Médoc tip.

“This is important to us, because we want to show that we can do things and create businesses in the Médoc.
