Three years after Birgitta Bergman died in her home in Brastad, the trial in Uddevalla District Court ended on Tuesday afternoon.

Two doctors, who prescribed an unusually high dose of potassium, are accused of having caused Birgitta Bergman's death through the prescription.

The criminal classification applies to causing another person's death.

The doctors deny

The doctors, who have previously received harsh criticism from the Swedish Health and Care Inspectorate in the case concerning Birgitta, have always denied the criminal charges.

The defense pointed out that it had not been possible to establish that the prescribed potassium caused the death.

- There are several alternative causes of death that may explain that she died, says defense lawyer Martin Schwitzgold.
