It has been revealed that the US government has changed its plan to sell a weapon called a self-propelled artillery to Taiwan last year.

Taiwanese media reports that the United States is rushing to provide weapons to Ukraine.

In August last year, the Biden administration in the United States decided to sell 40 vehicles equipped with cannons called self-propelled artillery to Taiwan, which was scheduled to be handed over from next year to 2025.

However, the Taiwan Ministry of National Defense announced on the 2nd that it had recently received a notification from the US side that "the production line is crowded, so it will be delivered after 2026 at the earliest."

It is also proposed to replace it with a rocket gun system.

The self-propelled artillery that was decided to be sold has higher performance than the one currently owned by the Taiwanese army.

The reason why the production line is crowded on the US side has not been clarified, but the Taiwanese newspaper "Union News" and others said that "Russia's invasion of Ukraine is affecting the production capacity of the US munitions industry." , In connection with the United States' rush to provide weapons to Ukraine.

He also said that the Biden administration decided to prioritize the sale of weapons to Taiwan, which is more suitable for the "asymmetric warfare" with China, which has a large difference in military power.
