M, L, KD and SD have voted in favor of Wämö Center's conference and café operations, as well as the servings at hospitals in both Karlskrona and Karlshamn, no longer being under the auspices of the region.
Regional director Peter Lilja has now been commissioned to procure another contractor and give the regional board a schedule as soon as possible.
- It came as a cold shower both for us and our members, says Andreas Ludvigsson from Kommunal.
Investigation shows negative results - but was done during the pandemic
The background to the decision is an investigation that has shown that the café and conference operations at Wämö center have been in the red and cannot continue to be conducted commercially in their current form.
- It does not go together financially.
Therefore, we want to develop the business instead, says the chairman of the regional board, Lennarth Förberg (M).
But Kommunal is critical of the fact that the decision is tilted towards the investigation - as the result has been affected by a two-year pandemic.
- A large part of the data that is here and shop worked from home when the investigation was done.
It does not give a fair picture, says Ludvigsson.
Lack of information
The decision was made by the regional board on Wednesday and the affected employees have not yet received any information from their employer.
A first meeting will be held tomorrow, Tuesday.
- It is not good that it has been so long in between.
Many of our members will be present because there are many fears, I can say that, says Andreas Ludvigsson from Kommunal.
Lennarth Förberg (M) regrets the lack of information but refers to the fact that the board's meeting lasted until late on Wednesday evening.
