• Album Tana Rivera, godmother of the Carriage Exhibition at the Seville Fair

The Sunday morning of the couplings is the most beautiful of the entire Fair.

Tana Rivera Martínez de Irujo

affirmed

it in her speech as godmother of the

XXXVI Exhibition of Hooks

held this Sunday in the Plaza de la

Maestranza

.

Tana was going to be a godmother in 2020, but the pandemic arrived.

Everything came to a standstill and the young woman was left without living a very emotional moment for her.

Her happy face when she arrived at the gala dinner organized by the

Real Club de Enganches de Andalucía

(

RCEA

) on the arm of her boyfriend,

Manu Vega

, said it all.

She was finally going to act as godmother, just like her grandmother

De Ella Cayetana Fitz-James Stuart

,

Duchess of Alba

, was 11 years ago .

A whole weekend in which his two grandmothers,

Cayetana

and

Carmen Ordóñez

, were present at all times .

The surroundings of the

Maestranza

were full of carriages.

Tana was waiting aboard a slingshot cart, prior to 1945, with purebred Spanish horses owned by

Jesús Contreras

(president of the

RCEA

), accompanied by

Rogelio Gómez Asín

, a member of the Club and one of those in charge of grooming the Godmother in each edition together with

Enrique Rodríguez Hidalgo

.

It was the latter who designed the dress that Tana has worn, with a classic cut in silk crepe and volume sleeves.

With a Barón&Terry

brooch

, the mantilla, comb, shawl and fan belonged to her grandmother Cayetana;

the coral earrings, from her grandmother Carmen from her.

And the hell, "it's a detail from Rogelio and Enrique, who have done it for me on behalf of Goya's painting. The first thing I've thought of is my grandmothers, always with them," he commented to LOC shortly before entering the

Maestranza

.

"I'm already very nervous, attacked, but with a lot of desire," she added, and recounted that in the morning her mother,

Eugenia

, was "delighted, very nervous too, we were putting on makeup and doing our hair together.

Juan del Eye

. And my father just came to see me and he was also very excited. "

For her part, Eugenia also arrived at the square by horse-drawn carriage, dressed in flamenco with a design by

Rocío Peralta

, and accompanied by

Narcís Rebollo

and Tana's boyfriend,

Manu Vega

.

Mother and daughter left the Palacio de Las Dueñas

in the morning

to go to the Alfonso XIII hotel, where it is traditional for the godmother to dress up for the occasion.

This year, the guest institution of honor has been the

Spanish Legion

.

About sixty legionnaires entered the square to open the show, belonging to the two

Squads of Spenders of the IV Tercio and X Flag of the Legion

accompanied by the

War Band of the IV Tercio and the Legion Cavalry Group

.

They received the first standing ovation of the day.

And the time has come.

Tana entered the Maestranza.

She is beautiful and very happy.

Her carriage circled the square several times, and she blew kisses and smiles every time she passed the box where her family was, which she did not stop recording and taking photos of the moment.

Eugenia said that she was "very happy", that everything was "very exciting" and that from the first moment she had been remembering her mother.

"What she would have enjoyed seeing Tana as a godmother," she told LOC.

Shortly after, the young woman got out of the carriage and joined her family in the box to enjoy the Exhibition, like her uncle

Fernando Martínez de Irujo

,

Simoneta Gómez-Acebo

,

Jaime de Marichalar

or

Ágatha Ruiz de la Prada

, along with her current partner,

José Manuel Díaz-Patón

.

And

Genoveva Casanova

, who also participated in the contest with a white mantilla aboard another carriage.

Genoveva also attended the gala dinner prior to the Exhibition, since she is spending a few days with her children Luis and Amina at the farm of her ex-husband,

Cayetano Martínez de Irujo

, in Carmona.

For her premiere as godmother at the dinner, Tana chose a sequined

Etro

dress in shades of green, accompanied by earrings with diamonds and emeralds from her grandmother Cayetana and Aquazzura shoes.

Eugenia Martínez de Irujo

, arrived with

Narcís Rebollo

, and

Francisco Rivera

with his wife,

Lourdes Montes

, dressed by

Roberto Diz

.

Eugenia also wanted to remember her mother, wearing diamond earrings that belonged to the Duchess.

Everyone shared a table during dinner, except Tana, who sat with the president of the

RCEA

,

Jesús Contreras

, and his wife,

Marian Campos

, and other members of the board.

"I was born from the love of a woman of character and a man of race"

The time has come to speak.

Tana highlighted the importance of Seville for her family, on the part of the

Alba

and the

Ordóñez

.

And she went to her parents.

She broke down and cried.

But she knew how to compose herself.

"I was born from love... from the love of a woman of character and a man of race, Eugenia and Francisco, my parents. They have been everything to me; together they brought me into the world to be free, and to love Seville and Triana, to love our land and its culture, and to be grateful to the world and to life. Today I want to thank you because what I am I owe to you. I love you".

He added that he dedicated this Sunday "to my two grandmothers, Cayetana and Carmen, two women who, like me, loved Seville until the end of their days."

And she melted into an emotional hug with her parents.

During the act, the traditional

Collerones de Bronce

were also delivered to the lieutenant general of the Land Force,

José Rodríguez García

, and to the delegate of Major Festivals of the Seville City Council,

Juan Carlos Cabrera

.

The

Carriage Exhibition of the Seville Fair

is one of the most emblematic concentrations of traditional horse carriages in the world, in which all the carriages are old, restored and pulled by magnificent horses.

They are the hooks that walk through the streets of the Fair.

This year some 80 carriages from Seville, Cádiz, Huelva, Almería, Córdoba, Madrid, Gerona and Portugal have participated in all modalities.

Also on Saturday there was activity in the street, within the so-called

VIII CIAT City of Seville

, a day in which Tana Rivera was seen again in a horse-drawn carriage with her mother and their respective partners.

They, Narcís Rebollo and Manu Vega, wearing a top hat.

Eugenia, with a design by Inés Domecq and a straw hat;

Tana, with a mauve jacket suit and a raffia hat.
