A contract with Russian group Rosatom to build a nuclear reactor in northern Finland has been cancelled.

The reason ?

The additional risks linked to the Russian invasion of Ukraine, the Finnish-majority consortium leading the project announced on Monday.

"The war in Ukraine has aggravated the risks of the project" located in Pyhäjoki on the shores of the Baltic Sea, justifies the Fennovoima consortium in a press release, also citing the "significant delays and the inability" of Rosatom "to complete" the site of the Hanhikivi-1 reactor.
