Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said on Monday that relations between Ankara and Riyadh will rise to a very distinguished level in various fields. Last week, Erdogan made a visit to Saudi Arabia, the first since 2017.
In statements after performing the Eid al-Fitr prayer, the Turkish president expressed his confidence that relations between Turkey and Saudi Arabia will develop greatly in various fields, including tourism, adding that the influx of Saudi tourists will contribute to strengthening the tourism movement in Turkey.
Two days ago, Erdogan welcomed the resumption of flights between the two countries, after improving relations between them, which were marred by tension in the past few years.
President Erdogan said that during his visit to the Kingdom, he discussed with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman the development of Saudi-Turkish relations.
The Turkish President met the Saudi Crown Prince last Thursday in the western city of Jeddah.
And the Saudi Press Agency published pictures of the Turkish president and the Saudi crown prince embracing, in what seemed to be a prelude to turning the page on the tension in bilateral relations.
The Turkish president said on Saturday that Ankara and Riyadh have a common desire to "reactivate great economic potential" between the two countries through organizations that bring together investors from both sides.
During his visit to Saudi Arabia, Erdogan performed Umrah last Friday after meetings with leaders of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
